CUSTOMER SUCCESS · CRANFIELD AVIATION

Different journeys.
One shared ambition.

From private pilots taking the next step to professionals converting international licences and future airline pilots completing ATPL theory alongside demanding careers — our students come to Cranfield with different starting points. What connects them is the determination to move forward.

THE STORIES BEHIND THE RESULTS

Success is personal.

There is no single route through aviation. Some of our students train while working full-time. Others arrive with years of flying experience, an ICAO licence, a university degree or a demanding family life. Some are building an airline career. Others simply want to become safer, more capable pilots.

That is why we believe a modern ATO should do more than provide course material. It should create a clear path, provide access to experienced people and give every student the flexibility to make serious aviation training work in the real world.

FEATURED JOURNEY · ATPL + ICAO CONVERSION

International experience. A European destination.

“I completed the ATPL theory within 10.5 months with excellent results. Although you are ultimately responsible for your own success, Cranfield played a significant part in the positive course of my ATPL theory training.”

REAL STUDENTS · REAL EXPERIENCE

Paths as individual as the pilots who take them.

Selected experiences from Cranfield students across professional, private and instrument-flight training.

ATPL · WORKING PROFESSIONAL

The right choice alongside a career.

Completing ATPL theory part-time demanded flexibility. Cranfield's staged structure, individual planning and instructor-led sessions allowed the training to progress at the student's own pace without sacrificing professional commitments.

CB-IR → ATPL

One course became the next chapter.

After completing CB-IR theory, the quality of training and support led directly to another decision: returning to Cranfield for ATPL theory.

PPL · MANAGEMENT CAREER

Training around full-time leadership roles.

Flexible study and direct access to instructors made it possible to complete PPL theory while working full-time in management — with support continuing into the search for practical training.

ATPL · FIRST-TIME PASSES

ATPL theory, structured into manageable stages.

Dr. Martin Kügler completed ATPL theory in around ten months and passed every examination at the first attempt, highlighting the staged course structure and the team's commitment to maintaining high-quality instruction.

ATPL · UNIVERSITY

Aviation training and university — together.

Personal scheduling support helped balance ATPL theory with university examinations. The result: both academic and aviation examinations completed successfully at the first attempt.

ATPL(H) · HELICOPTER

A demanding timeline. A clear plan.

With only eight months available, a tightly planned ATPL(H) VFR theory pathway, compact brush-up and coordinated school examinations made an ambitious schedule achievable.

ATPL · INTERNATIONAL

Planning an EASA ATPL from Asia.

Flexible course planning, progress tests and advance scheduling allowed an internationally based student to organise EASA ATPL theory from Asia and complete the required stages in Europe.

ATPL · ACCELERATED

Four months. One ambitious objective.

An intensive full-time self-study plan, coordinated examination logistics and direct personal support enabled completion of ATPL(A) theory on an exceptionally focused timeline.

CB-IR · PRIVATE PILOT

From VFR freedom to instrument capability.

For pilots balancing work, family and flying, flexible distance learning and focused brush-up can turn the ambition of instrument flying into a realistic next step.

THREE JOURNEYS · THREE DIFFERENT WORLDS

Aviation careers are not built from templates.

Behind every licence is a different life. These three journeys show what flexible, serious theoretical training can make possible — across careers, continents and aircraft categories.

ATPL · UNIVERSITY · PROFESSIONAL AMBITION

Two demanding paths. Neither had to wait.

For Pascal Brockmann, ATPL theory had to coexist with university examinations. Rather than forcing aviation into a rigid timetable, the training was planned around both ambitions.

Personal scheduling and a clear course structure made it possible to progress in aviation without putting academic goals on hold.

ATPL · INTERNATIONAL

An EASA journey planned from Asia.

Distance should not decide whether the next licence is possible. Selvia Staudinger organised her EASA ATPL theory while based in Asia, combining advance planning, progress testing and carefully scheduled training stages in Europe.

International aviation needs training that can move with the pilot — not the other way around.

ATPL(H) · ROTARY WING

Eight months. Helicopter theory. One clear objective.

Christian Adams came with a demanding timeline for ATPL(H) VFR theory. A tightly coordinated pathway, compact brush-up and aligned school examinations turned the schedule into a workable training plan.

Ambitious timelines become manageable when the structure behind them is equally ambitious.

WHAT STUDENTS VALUE

Built around the journey, not just the syllabus.

01

Flexibility

Training designed to fit professional commitments, international locations and individual learning speeds.

02

Personal support

Direct access to instructors and the training team when questions, planning decisions or regulatory details matter.

03

Structure

Clear stages, progress checks and focused teaching turn large theoretical syllabi into manageable milestones.

04

Continuity

Many students return for their next qualification — from PPL or CB-IR through to professional-level theory.

AVIATION WITHOUT BORDERS

Your starting point does not define your destination.

Cranfield supports pilots across borders, licence systems and career stages. Whether you are beginning in general aviation, moving into instrument flying, converting an international licence or preparing for airline-level theory, the objective remains the same: a training path that makes the next step possible.
